Modi, Yogi lead BJP blitz from Meerut to Mathura
Modi and Yogi lead BJP's Electoral Campaign from Meerut to Mathura
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin the Bharatiya Janata Party's campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh from Meerut. He will address a rally there on March 30, alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Choudhary. This marks the initiation of BJP's electoral drive in the state.
Yogi's outreach in Western UP
In tandem, CM Yogi Adityanath will embark on a hectic tour of western Uttar Pradesh. Commencing from Mathura on March 27, he will engage in 'Prabudh Sammelan' across fifteen districts over five days, culminating in Rampur on March 31. Yogi aims to interact with intellectuals and professionals from various fields to bolster support for the Modi government ahead of the elections.

Covering districts that encompass 14 Lok Sabha seats, BJP's decision to field Arun Govil, known for his portrayal of Rama in Ramayan, from Meerut sends a message regarding the Ayodhya temple. The region, termed the 'Sugarcane belt,' witnessed significant electoral shifts in the 2022 Assembly elections due to the farmers' movement against the farm laws.
RLD-BJP alliance and Ram Temple plank
With the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) aligning with BJP and BJP's strategic moves like the announcement of 'Bharat Ratna' for Chaudhary Charan Singh, the party aims to consolidate support. Fielding Arun Govil and focusing on Ram temple-related issues further solidify this strategy, especially given the region's significance in the Ram temple movement.
PM Modi is likely to highlight infrastructural projects like the Delhi-Meerut expressway and the Ganga expressway, along with other welfare schemes. With polling scheduled across seven phases from April 19 to June 1, Meerut will vote on April 26 during the second phase.
